Learning Modules:
In this module, Matt looks at a high level look at the Microsoft Teams Administration Center.
Starting with how to access it, but also looking at the different Roles which you can set up to allow control over certain behaviours and actions within Teams.
This module looks at why managing Teams is one of the key activities that any Microsoft Teams Administrator will undertake.
Activity can range from creating new teams, managing existing ones, to managing the Team lifecycle by archiving teams when they are no longer needed. You'll get insight into all of these areas and more.
Meetings are one of the most important parts of Microsoft Teams for an end-user, however they can be controlled through policies. In this module, Matt looks at how to can apply policies to change the user experience, or to apply additional protection to our users during meetings.
In this module, Matt looks at the settings and policies which can be applied to Live Events. Live Events are available to Microsoft Teams as a webinar platform, allowing large audiences to attend.
He looks at how to can control the Live Event experience from the Administration Center and how to can apply policies to individuals or groups of users.
In this module, you'll look at the policies you might apply with regards to messaging.
Messaging refers to chats and conversations with Microsoft Teams, which we can apply policies to from the Admin Center.
Discover how to change the chat experience for users, control what they can or cannot do, and examine how you can change the experience for specific groups of users.
In this module, you'll examine how to manage apps within your tenancy. Looking at the app catalogue, the global settings and the way that you can control which apps our users can install and interact with in the context of Microsoft Teams.
Within the Microsoft Teams Admin Center, you can define the rules around how our apps can be controlled at a global level.
In this module, you will look at how you can define how the apps can be controlled on a user or group basis to provide more granular control over the apps that our users are installing and interacting with.
App Setup Policies allow you to govern the apps that are installed and visible to users when they open Microsoft Teams.
In this module. Matt looks at how you can install and pin apps to promote specific apps and functionality for users.
Within this module, you look at the options for configuring external access.
External access relates to how people communicate with users within our organisation without being created as an object in our Azure Active Directory. This could be with chat, or attendance in meetings.
Guest access relates to users who we invite directly into Microsoft Teams in order to collaborate with us. They are treated differently to External Users. Therefore, in this module, Matt look's at the settings which can be applied to guest users in order to apply the correct level of governance to those outside of our organisation.
Microsoft Teams will generally look after itself, however when it comes to voice and video communications we can have a range of different experiences.
If poor quality is a clear concern for the organisation then we need to be able to investigate to find out the issues.
In this module, you'll see some of the debugging tools available to you within the Microsoft Teams Admin Center.
Collab365's Take:
I've worked in quite a few businesses and teams over the last 4 years and the ONE thing I can say I notice above all is how confusing a time I've had finding people and important stuff in Microsoft Teams.
It's literally been a case of ... was that in a channel ? or was it a chat... let me try a Search ... no, thats taking ages ... I know ... I'll figure out which meeting is was part of and it will be in the files tab. er .... (insert a bit of swearing here!)
The issue I'm faced with is what some call Teams sprawl.
It has to be common because I've encountered it literally everywhere and it makes day-to-day life at work maddening. Team mates who posted in one channel tell me to go look there but it was a group they just set up themselves and I haven't got access ... argggggh!
Some calming news though is that there is a solution. A well curated, well considered, governed but flexible workspace where I can collaborate with ease and find what I need.
I can feel the peace rolling over me now ... and thats because I watched Matts workshop on how to be a great Teams Administrator.
There are answers and they are NOT hard, it just takes some planning, the tools Matt gives in his workshop and some careful practice.
Had I known what Matt shows in this workshop 4 years ago ... I would definitely have had more hair and a happier time in Teams at work.
